Bride Preparation shots
One of the most important aspects of the wedding day is all of the preparation that goes into it, and of course the most important preparations are those done by the bride herself. Phoenix, Arizona Wedding Photographers know that the some of the most important shots from any wedding are the shots of the bride getting ready. Here are some quick ways tips to help get better bridal prep photos.
Make her Feel Comfortable
The whole point of you being there with the bride is to capture her getting ready in a candid way. While it can be good to set up some shots, such as her holding up her shoes or jewelry, the best pictures are the candid shots of the bride interacting with her bridesmaids. These shots don’t work well if the bride doesn’t feel comfortable.
One of the best ways I’ve found to help relax the bride is to tell her that you’re only going to stay with her until she wants you to leave. Some brides don’t really care if you’re in the room while they’re changing into the dress, but others are uncomfortable having their photo taken while they’re getting their makeup done. It’s important that the bride knows that you’re only going to take pictures of things that she wants photographed. I had a bride last weekend insist that I didn’t get photos of her smoking a cigarette but then she didn’t care that I was around while she was getting on the dress.
Try to Be Unobtrusive
You want photos of the bride and her bridesmaids hanging out together, not photos of the bride talking to you. It’s fine to talk with her and to joke around a bit, it can even help her feel more comfortable with you around, just make sure that you’re not taking all of her attention from the rest of the big day. Phoenix, Arizona Wedding Photographers are there to capture the day, but not to really be a big part of it.
