So you just got engaged!! Congratulations! You have been in a state of bliss of the past few weeks, but now the reality has hit! You have to plan a wedding!! Some girls have already been planning their wedding for years, but if you are like me, you had no idea where to even begin to plan a wedding! I have now been in the wedding industry for over 6 years and have learned quite a bit more than I knew when I was planning my own wedding! I know I needed all the help I could get, so as a Phoenix, Arizona Wedding Photographer, I want to be as much a help as possible in this adventure you have just begun!
I would say, the very first thing to figure out is your budget! Talk with your fiancé and family and discuss what each person is thinking. If dad has some money put back for your wedding day, make sure you know exactly how much he is planning on giving you before you start planning! Many people don’t have help from parents and thus have to determine themselves how much they can budget! Don’t fret if you don’t have a huge budget, you can still have a beautiful wedding, you may just have to plan a little better and work a little harder! However, if you know this from the beginning, it makes it much easier and you will waste less time looking at venues and vendors that you cannot afford.
Once you have a total budget figured out, you need to then split it up and decide how much you want to spend on each thing. Is having a great venue the most important thing to you? Is there a specific dress you have dreamed about since you were a child?! Is it most important that you have beautiful images captured during your big day that you will be able to look back on and show people for years to come?! Everyone is different! I can tell you from my experience getting married at a young age, I did not value photography and did not understand why it was such a huge part of most people’s budgets! I did not hire a professional wedding photographer is Phoenix, Arizona and instead had a family member take some photos, but it is one of my BIGGEST regrets!!
